Welcome to Spartanburg!

SERN

During the past two years, Spartanburg County has experienced an invigorating surge of entrepreneurial activity. With the recent media announcement that our county stands as “4th in the nation” in terms of dedicated incubation facilities, we are poised to become a leading regional center of entrepreneurial development.

The further development of SERN (Spartanburg Entrepreneurial Resource Network), provides a solid foundation for community wide unity and collaboration, and brings valuable advice and resources readily accessible to entrepreneurs.

Moving into 2014, several new programs will be added to an already impressive roster of small business activity. A few highlights:

  • The new “downtown incubator” (unofficial working name) is now open and adds a vital piece to the development of an entrepreneurial city.
  • “Grain Ideas” will provide a time and place for the growing community of entrepreneurs to gather on a regular basis to share ideas and form collaborations.
  • With its first class of successful store openings now complete, “The Main Street Challenge” moves into its second year.
  • “Grain Ideas” will provide a time and place for the growing community of entrepreneurs to gather on a regular basis to share ideas and form collaborations.
  • The Iron Yard business accelerator prepares for a second round.
  • Spartanburg Methodist College ramps up its student involvement.
  • The “NX Level” educational program returns to present a second class of graduates.
  • All this and very much more.

This February, with the privilege of hosting the very first Startup Weekend in Upstate South Carolina, Spartanburg further distinguishes itself as an important entrepreneurial community.

Our city thanks all those who have helped make Startup Weekend Spartanburg a reality and welcomes all participants to yet another exciting opportunity of learning and fellowship.
